20th Century Fox has dropped a big new trailer for A Cure for Wellness, the upcoming horror-thriller from director Gore Verbinski.
Spawned from a story by Verbinski and screenwriter Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road, Snitch), A Cure for Wellness finds Dane DeHaan playing a young executive who is sent to a mysterious retreat in the Swiss Alps to retrieve his company’s CEO. Before long, he finds himself unable to leave, and even diagnosed with the same supposed illness that’s keeping all the guests there.
It’s great to see Verbinski tackling horror again. The Ring was a standout remake, and while he certainly had success crafting the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, I’ve been wanting to see what more disturbences he can craft in this genre. So far, so very good. A Cure for Wellness is one great-looking film, with gorgeously eerie visuals, an intriguing premise, and what looks like a DiCaprio-in-Shutter Island type of performance from DeHaan.
A Cure for Wellness, also starring Jason Isaacs, Mia Goth and Celia Imrie, will open in Australia on February 16 and hits the US on February 17, 2017
Synopsis for A Cure for Wellness:
An ambitious young executive is sent to retrieve his company’s CEO from an idyllic but mysterious “wellness center” at a remote location in the Swiss Alps. He soon suspects that the spa’s miraculous treatments are not what they seem. When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure. From Gore Verbinski, the visionary director of THE RING, comes the new psychological thriller, A CURE FOR WELLNESS.
