Abrams’ God Particle Gets Director

Variety has reported that Paramount and Bad Robot have picked Julius Onah to direct God Particle. J.J. Abrams is to produce the sci-fi flick that tells the story of an American space station crew left abandoned after a problem with a Hadron accelerator causes Earth to vanish entirely. Paramount Insurge will develop the film, meaning it will have a budget of $5 million to $10 million. This marks Onah’s first big film (he’s made his name making short films) and should see him shot to the A-League if this is successful. Abrams isn’t a stranger to giving opportunities to up-and-comers. He gave Matt Reeves (Let Me In and the upcoming Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes) the chance of a lifetime when he handed him the reigns to Cloverfield.
