New ‘Alien: Covenant’ Prologue Reveals ‘Prometheus’ Connection

20th Century Fox has dropped a great new prologue for Alien: Covenant, one that also serves as an epilogue to the film’s predecessor, Prometheus.

The two-and-a-half minute clip shows what Elizabeth (Noomi Rapace) and the synthetic David (Michael Fassbender) got up to following the events of Prometheus, which (spoilers for those haven’t seen that film) ended with the two sole survivors heading off into space in the hopes of finding the Engineers’ home planet.

Looks like Elizabeth and David grow much closer on their voyage. She puts the android back together (a move she may soon regret) and goes into cryosleep, while David roams, learning as much as he can about the Engineers.

The clip culminates in a moment that leads directly into what we saw in that spoiler-ish international TV spot. They arrive at the Engineers’ planet… and David has one hell of a surprise for them. One can assume that David will leave a cold, corpse-filled landscape behind, a place that perhaps won’t be hospitable to the crew of the Covenant when they arrive.

This is actually the second prologue released for the upcoming sequel / Alien prequel. The first 5-minute prologue released, which you can watch HERE, introduced us to the crew we’re about to see have a really bad time.

All will be much clearer when Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, which finds Fassbender playing another android, Walter, and also stars Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir and Carmen Ejogo, among others, arrives in Australia on May 18 and opens in the US on May 19.

Official synopsis for Alien: Covenant:

The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
