The first trailer for Alien: Covenant has been released, giving us our first proper look at the upcoming Alien prequel/Prometheus sequel.
Alien and Prometheus director Ridley Scott returns at the helm of this follow-up, which also finds Michael Fassbender returning as the “synthetic” David. The new film follows the crew of the Covenant as they discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but yeah, certain extra-terrestrial life won’t exactly be showing them a good time.
Horror is thrust front and centre in the first, decidedly red band, trailer released – a nice Xmas treat for fans of this sci-fi franchise. From the get-go, it’s clear Scott is going for a hard R (US classification) chapter that looks to be tapping into elements from the first film, even though there are a number of moments that look mighty similar to Prometheus. So far, so good. Check out the trailer below.
Alien: Covenant, also starring Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollet, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England and Benjamin Rigby, arrives in Australia on May 18 and hits the US on May 19, 2017.
