‘An Inconvenient Sequel’ Clip: Al Gore Speech Highlights Humanity’s Urgent Choice

“It is right to save the future for humanity; it is wrong to pollute this earth and destroy the climate balance.”

Former Vice President Al Gore keeps it straightforward in a new clip released from An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, the follow-up to the 2006 Oscar winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth. Gore’s determined mission to highlight climate change and the results of prolonged pollution continues to rage on, and there’s perhaps no better time to release a sequel.

The current US President will no doubt be casting a shadow across Gore’s new battlecry. Donald Trump’s jaw-dropping and head-shaking – and yet, let’s be honest, increasingly unsurprising – decision to pull out of the Paris Accord is paving a timely path for the doco’s release.

An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, directed by Jon Shenk and Bonni Cohen, who were also behind the scathing Netflix documentary Audrie & Daisy, will open in the US on July 28 and arrives in Australia on August 24.

Synopsis for An Inconvenient Sequel:

A decade after AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH brought climate change into the heart of popular culture, comes the riveting and rousing follow-up that shows just how close we are to a real energy revolution. Vice President Al Gore continues his tireless fight traveling around the world training an army of climate champions and influencing international climate policy. Cameras follow him behind the scenes – in moments both private and public, funny and poignant — as he pursues the inspirational idea that while the stakes have never been higher, the perils of climate change can be overcome with human ingenuity and passion.
