Mads Mikkelsen reunites with The Hunt director Thomas Vinterberg for Another Round, an upcoming drama that’s been selected for the 2020 Cannes Film Festival line-up.
The first trailer has arrived for the film, which follows a group of high school teachers who decide to test a theory: maintaining a constant level of alcohol in their blood improves lives. As you can imagine, what starts off with positive signs, as inhibitions are dropped and confidence is raised, soon devolves into addiction and all-round breakdown.
If you haven’t seen 2012 drama The Hunt, do yourself a favour and get on it immediately. The story of a primary teacher wrongfully accused of a shocking act was a troubling, incredibly well-crafted film, and it featured what may be Mikkelsen’s best performance yet – which is saying something. This reunion of star and director looks very promising, and the trailer does a great job of teasing the spiralling events. Expect things to end badly.
To add even more excitement for the film: Vinterberg wrote the screenplay with Tobias Lindholm, a fantastic filmmaker in his own right, having co-written The Hunt and written-directed acclaimed films A Hijacking and A War.
Another Round also stars Thomas Bo Larsen, Lars Ranthe and Magnus Millang, among others. It’s currently lined up for a release in Denmark on September 24.
