The outlet has a new cover story on the upcoming DC film, directed by Aussie director James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring) and starring Jason Momoa, who reprises his role as Aquaman for the second time following 2017’s Justice League.
It’s been a bit of a bumpy ride for Warner Bros’ DC cinematic universe, particularly after JL received poor to negative reactions and ended up being the lowest-grossing film in this universe thus far. All eyes are now on Aquaman, and Wan, understandably, is aiming to put some distance between this film and what’s come before.
“The water world my movie takes place in is so separate and so far apart from previous DC movies it’s like I’m making my own sci-fi fantasy film,” Wan told EW. “This is a whole new underwater world nobody has seen before in live action.”
If done right, we could be in for one hell of a DC film from the renowned director, who’s proven himself adept at challenges before; he directed Furious Seven to a huge $US1.5 billion gross, reworking the blockbuster after Paul Walker sadly perished while production had momentarily paused for Thanksgiving holiday.

Fingers crossed for Aquaman, which also stars Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe and Dolph Lundgren, among others. The film arrives in Australia on December 13 and hits the US on December 21.
