On board to pen the series is Yassir Lester, whose credits include HBO’s Girls, where he worked as a staff writer and story editor, and Black Monday, the Showtime series starring Cheadle. As reported by Deadline, Lester impressed Cheadle and execs with his pitch.
Armor Wars will find Cheadle reprising his MCU role as James Rhodes, the close friend of Tony Stark who took on the superhero title of War Machine after embracing a Stark tech suit. No plot details are yet known, apart from the teaser question Marvel revealed when it first announced the series: What happens if Tony Stark’s tech falls into the wrong hands?
Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige will be producing Armor Wars, which is still in the early days of development, with no word as yet on who will be directing. It also remains to be seen what other cast members and Marvel characters will be appearing. Stay tuned.
Among the live-action Marvel series ahead for Disney+: Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Secret Invasion and Ironheart.
