Paramount Pictures is currently in the process of finding the actress that will be joining Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron in the feature film adaptation of the hit television series Baywatch.
According to Deadline, the shortlist currently includes Nina Dobrev, known for her role in The Vampire Diaries; Ashley Benson, best known for her role in TV’s Pretty Little Liars; Alexandra Daddario, who had a role in season one of HBO’s True Detective and who played Dwayne Johnson’s daughter in San Andreas; Alexandra Shipp, who had a part in Straight Outta Compton and who is set to play a young Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse; Shelly Hennig, known for TV’s Teen Wolf; Biance Santos, who had a role in the comedy The DUFF; and Denyse Tontz, known for Big Time Rush.
Word is that some of these actresses could still be given smaller Baywatch roles if they don’t land female lead. There’s also currently no word as to whether the testing process involves them running in their swimwear in slow motion.
The new Baywatch movie will tell of a cocky former Olympian who bumps heads with the leader of an elite team of lifeguards. Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon is at the helm. The latest draft of the screenplay has been penned by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who have credits writing Freddy vs. Jason and the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th.
Production is expected to start early next year.
Earlier this year saw Ashley Benson take part in a Baywatch-style photoshoot. Does she look the part?
