Get ready for a Between Two Ferns movie on Netflix, with Zach Galifianakis and, as the announcement pic released on Twitter states (check it out below), “celebrities you’ve heard of.”
The film is set to be directed by Scott Aukerman, who co-created the comedy talk show with Galifianakis and BJ Porter. Aukerman has written the screenplay alongside Galiafianakis and the two will be producing with Funny Or Die’s Caitlin Daley and Mike Farah.
The film will be exploring the curmudgeonly, beloved outsider character that Galifianakis plays when hosting. As per the official synopsis:
… Zach Galifianakis dreamed of becoming a star. But when Will Ferrell discovered his public access TV show “Between Two Ferns” and uploaded it to Funny or Die, Zach became a viral laughing stock. Now Zach and his crew are taking a road trip to complete a series of high-profile celebrity interviews and restore his reputation.
The interview show features Galifianakis interviewing high-profile guests in deliberately awkward fashion, with rude jokes, an often antagonistic attitude and highly random questions. The celebrity guests have thus far included former US President Barack Obama, Brad Pitt, Justin Bieber, Steve Carell and Bradley Cooper.
Between Two Ferns: The Movie will be hitting Netflix on September 20.
And here’s Pitt (… “it’s a bassoon”):
