A fun, bonkers concept with this one: A group of terrorists hijack a transatlantic overnight flight. What they don’t count on, however, is that there’s a mother on board who is oh-so determined to protect her child. Oh, and this mother? Yeah, she’s a vampire.
The cast includes Peri Baumeister (Skylines, The Last Kingdom) as Nadja, the vamp, and Aussie-raised actor Dominic Purcell (Prison Break, Legends of Tomorrow) as one of the terrorists. Directing and co-writing this potentially – and hopefully – fun genre mash is Peter Thorwarth, who’s had a number of much smaller German films and who had a writing credit on the fantastic 2008 ‘high school social experiment gone wrong’ film The Wave (track it down).
Blood Red Sky will be streaming on Netflix from July 23rd.
Netflix’s official logline for Blood Red Sky:
A woman with a mysterious illness is forced into action when a group of terrorists attempt to hijack a transatlantic overnight flight. In order to protect her son she will have to reveal a dark secret, and unleash the vampire within that she fought to hide.
