20th Century Fox has dropped the first teaser trailer for Bohemian Rhapsody, the long-awaited biopic of Queen and the legendary group’s front-man Freddie Mercury.
Mr. Robot star Rami Malek plays Mercury in the upcoming film, which traces the rise of the iconic band and the ups and downs of its lead singer, culminating in their epic performance at Live Aid.
This biopic has had quite the journey to fruition, from the days when Sacha Baron Cohen was attached to star and left due to creative differences with the Queen band members, to the alleged firing of director Bryan Singer during production. Eddie the Eagle director Dexter Fletcher was brought on to take the helm, finally paving the way for the film to come to life.
The teaser trailer doesn’t show off too much, but it does providing an enticing number of snippets from what look like – and hopefully will be – some fascinating re-enactments and an on-point Malek. Fingers firmly crossed for this one.
Bohemian Rhapsody, also starring Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello, Aiden Gillen, Tom Hollander, and Mike Myers, arrives in Australia on November 1 and opens in the US on November 2.
