‘Bruised’ Trailer: Halle Berry is an MMA Fighter in Her Netflix Directorial Debut

Netflix has released the trailer for MMA drama Bruised, starring and directed by Oscar winner Halle Berry.

Berry’s feature directorial debut has her playing once promising mixed martial arts fighter Jackie Justice, who left the sport in disgrace and is now down on her luck, struggling to be a mother to her son, and filled with rage and regret. An opportunity for redemption comes when she’s coaxed into an underground fight and is noticed by a fight league promoter, who could offer her a chance to make it back into the professional circuit.

The combat sports drama is certainly a well oiled machine at the point in cinema, but when it works, it can still pack a crowd-pleasing punch. Looking forward to seeing what Berry delivers on both sides of the camera; in front of the camera, at least, the star certainly looks to be giving it her all. The screenplay is by Michelle Rosenfarb.

Bruised, also starring Adan Canto, Shamier Anderson, Adriane Lenox, Sheila Atim, Valentina Shevchenko, and Stephen McKinley Henderson, will arrive on Netflix and opening in select US cinemas on November 24th.
