A Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds Christmas movie!
That’s what we’re going to be getting with a musical reimagining of the classic Charles Dickens story A Christmas Carol. THR reports that while the two are attached star, there aren’t any details on who will play who.
The film will be directed and written by Sean Anders and John Morris, who have worked together on the Daddy’s Home movies and last year’s Instant Family. As of now the film doesn’t have a studio home, although a number are reportedly bidding to score what’s potentially a hit-making project.
Dickens’ 1843 book tells of a rich miser named Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by ghosts of Christ Past, Present and Future and experiences a profound experience of redemption over the course of an evening.
A Christmas Carol has been adapted many, many times, from a British silent short in 1901, to 1988’s Bil Murray vehicle Scrooged, to 1992’s The Muppet Christmas Carol, to Robert Zemeckis’ Jim Carrey motion-capture film in 2009.
Up next for Reynolds is Michael Bay’s Netflix action film 6 Underground. Ferrell also has Netflix work coming with Eurovision, a comedy to also star Rachel McAdams, Pierce Brosnan and Dan Stevens.
