The first trailer has arrived for Creed 2, bringing back Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone as Adonis Creed and Rocky Balboa.
The son of Apollo Creed will be facing his biggest challenge in the ring yet when he takes on one hell of an opponent: Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago (played by Dolph Lundgren in Rocky IV).
It’s a strong first trailer, hyping up the fight Creed’s going to have in the ring and the ghosts of the past that, for better or worse, drive our boxer and his mentor. Black Panther director Ryan Coogler delivered a near knock-out with Creed; let’s hope director Steven Caple Jr. can follow suit.
Creed 2, also starring Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Russell Hornsby, Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu, Andre Ward, Phylicia Rashad and Dolph Lundgren, will open in the US on November 21 and arrives in Australia on November 29.
Official synopsis for Creed 2:
Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.
