Kevin Feige Confirms MCU’s Daredevil Will Be Charlie Cox

Fans of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil can breathe a collective sigh of relief.

There’s been much speculation as to whether or not we would be seeing Matt Murdoch, aka Daredevil, turn up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – which now extends to the smaller screen thanks to Disney+. And, if Daredevil did turn up, would Marvel bring back Cox? After all, Cox earned wide acclaim for his turn as The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in Netflix’s three-season Daredevil series – arguably the best of the Defenders line-up that also included The Punisher (a close second, for me), Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and… Iron Fist.

Well, MCU mastermind Kevin Feige has confirmed it, telling Cinemablend:

If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen.

So, yes, there’s still plenty of vagueness surrounding the whens and wheres, but that’s nevertheless an exciting and somewhat surprising confirmation to come from Feige. After all, they could have held back confirmation until Daredevil suddenly pops up somewhere. Then again, in the day of the internet, we don’t need anything official; we’ll confirm things for ourselves… i.e., Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

And now we’re left to speculate as to where exactly Cox’s Daredevil could pop up. Marvel has, of course, a plethora of films and Disney+ shows on the horizon to pick from. The path to Daredevil seems to have been hinted at in Hawkeye‘s third episode (spoilers ahead?), with what appears to have been a nod to none other than Kingpin – an off-camera character that sounded a lot like Vincent D’Onofrio.

Oh, and Feige, while you’re at it, if you could also confirm Jon Bernthal’s return as Punisher? That would be great, thanks.

And now, to celebrate, a look back at that awesome hallway oner from Daredevil season 1…
