New ‘Death on the Nile’ Trailer: Gal Gadot, Russell Brand, Armie Hammer and More in Kenneth Branagh’s Whodunnit Sequel

A new trailer has arrived for Death on the Nile, the delayed sequel to Murder on the Orient Express, the 2017 Kenneth Branagh-directed-and-starring adaptation of the 1934 Agatha Christie mystery of the same name.

Branagh returns as director and star for the sequel, which finds Branagh’s detective Hercule Poirot this time looking into a murder that occurs aboard a glamourous river streamer. The film’s impressive cast includes Gal Gadot, Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright, with Tom Bateman reprising his role as Bouc, Poirot’s friend.

This film completed principal photography towards the end of 2019 and has since been delayed numerous times because of the pandemic. Certain allegations against Hammer didn’t help matters either; the actor is barely seen in the new trailer. Walt Disney Studios subsidiary 20th Century Studios was clearly hoping to the clouds pass by before releasing the film, considering the success of Murder on the Orient Express. The first film performed quite well at the box office, earning over $US352 million worldwide from a budget of around $US55 million.

Death on the Nile will be opening in Australian cinemas on February 10th and U.S. cinemas on February 11th, 2022.
