Director Chosen for Magic Mike Sequel

Get ready for more hunks, minus their trunks. The sequel to Magic Mike is moving forward nicely, with The Playlist reporting that a director has now been locked in. Greg Jacobs, who directed Criminal, a remake of the Argentine film Nine Queens, and the Emily Blunt-starring horror film Wind Chill, is set to helm the follow-up to Steven Soderbergh’s hit 2012 film.

The sequel is being written and produced by Channing Tatum, the lead-star of the first film, with Reid Carolin (White House Down) attached to produce.

Jacobs’ move to direct the sequel isn’t much of a surprise, since he’s worked with Soderbergh as an A.D. on nearly every film since Full Frontal. He was also a producer and A.D. on Magic Mike.

There aren’t any details known regarding the sequel’s plot and no other cast members have been locked in to star.

A sequel to Magic Mike is a no-brainer, when you consider the fact that the film had a production budget of $7 million and earned a whopping $167 million in worldwide box-office receipts.

And now, for completely gratuitous reasons…
