Robert Downey Jr. has taken to social media to reveal the talented cast set to join him on the upcoming Doctor Dolittle film.
The two-time Oscar nominee will be playing a physician who discovers he can talk to animals in The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, based on the character created by children’s author Hugh Lofting. Eddie Murphy took on the role in the ’98 film Doctor Dolittle and its 2001 sequel.
There’s a star-studded cast on board voicing the animals, including Emma Thompson as Polynesia the parrot, Octavia Spencer as Dab-Dab the duck, Tom Holland as Jip the dog, Ralph Fiennes as Barry the tiger, Marion Cotillard as Tutu the fox, John Cena as Yoshi the polar bear, and Selena Gomez as Betsy the giraffe, among others.

The family adventure film is being directed and co-written by Oscar winner Stephen Gaghan, who’s known for more serious adult fare, including writing Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic and writing-directing political thriller Syriana. Gaghan most recently directed the biopic Gold, starring Matthew McConaughey.
Downey Jr., of course, can next be seen reprising his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.
The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle is currently scheduled to open in the U.S. on April 12, 2019.
