Eric Bana in the Trailer for Deliver Us from Evil

Eric Bana gets spooked in the first trailer for Deliver Us from Evil, a new horror film from Screen Gems. Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) directs this film, “inspired by the actual accounts” of NYPD police officer Ralph Sarchie, who joins a priest, played by Édgar Ramírez (Domino, The Counselor), to combat some demonic crimes. The trailer doesn’t really provide us with much of the film’s plot, instead it focuses on one of the film’s freaky moments. Hopefully the film delivers on the evil tone the title refers to. Co-written by Paul Harris Boardman, who co-wrote Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose with Derrickson.

Olivia Munn, Joel McHale, and Sean Harris also star.

Official synopsis for Deliver Us from Evil:

In DELIVER US FROM EVIL, New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), struggling with his own personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes.  He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramirez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city.  Based upon the book, which details Sarchie’s bone-chilling real-life cases.
