Marvel Unveils Epic New ‘Eternals’ Trailer, Thanos Question Addressed

Marvel Studios

Whoa! Marvel has released a big new trailer for Eternals, unveiling a lot more footage and dropping important bits of info we’ll need going in.

Get ready to meet the Eternals, humanoids spawned from the alien Celestials with a key mission: protect humanity from their destructive counterparts, the Deviants. And as Salma Hayek‘s wise and spiritual leader Ajak explains in the trailer, the Thanos click and the return of half the population after five years “provided the necessary energy for the emergence to begin.” Yep, the Eternals are most definitely needed now – and with a time limit on their hands.

As for why they haven’t helped fight against the MCU’s previous threats, including Thanos, Gemma Chan’s humankind-loving Sersi has an answer of sorts: “We were instructed not to interfere in any human conflicts unless Deviants were involved.” Sigh… I mean, they still could have done… something?

The film is directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao (Nomadland), who also co-wrote the screenplay with Patrick Burleigh (Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway), Ryan Firpo, and Matthew K. Firpo.

The cast includes Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena; Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris; Kumail Nanjiani as cosmic-powered Kingo; Kit Harington as Dane Whitman; Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite; Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos; Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari; Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig; and Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh.

Mark the date! Eternals will be hitting Australian cinemas on November 4th and US cinemas on November 5th. Take a look at the trailer and  the new Eternals poster beneath it.

Marvel’s synopsis for Eternals:

Marvel Studios’ Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.
