First ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore’ Trailer Unveils Mads Mikkelsen as Grindelwald

Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. has unveiled a big first trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, the third Fantastic Beasts film and the eleventh chapter in the Wizarding World franchise (which, of course, includes the Harry Potter films).

Secrets of Dumbledore introduces Mads Mikkelsen to the franchise, replacing Johnny Depp as the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. The villainous wizard continues to make moves to control the wizarding world and take down muggles, pushing Professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law, back in the role) to entrust Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) with leading a team on a dangerous mission that places them against Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But, as the conflict continues to heat up, it becomes increasingly clear that Dumbeldore may have to get more involved thank he thinks.

Director David Yates continues at the helm of the franchise, staying in the Wizarding World director’s chair he’s held since 2007’s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The screenplay comes from Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and Steve Kloves.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, also starring Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, and Katherine Waterston, among others, will open in Australian cinemas on April 7th and U.S. cinemas on April 15th, 2022.
