The eighth film in the Fast & Furious franchise doesn’t open until April next year, but we’ve nevertheless been getting a ton of hype and behind-the-scenes action for Fast 8 thanks to that all-powerful social media marketing.
Ahead of the film’s Facebook preview event, which will have the cast coming together in New York this coming Sunday, a fun featurette has been released with Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and others taking us through the family aspects of the saga. We’re given snippets of the films that have come before, are offered up more behind-the-scenes footage from Fast 8 – with more of Charlize Theron’s villainess, Cipher – and find out the date that first trailer will drop, December 11.
The series has proven to be quite the money-maker for Universal. Furious 7‘s jaw-dropping worldwide pull of $US1.51 billion (currently making it the sixth-highest grossing film of all time) ensured the series wasn’t going to be eyeing a finish line anytime soon. And considering the fun on offer in the last few films, that’s just fine with me.
Check out the video below, and stay tuned for that trailer.
Fast 8, directed by Straight Outta Compton helmer F. Gary Gray, who recently finished putting together the director’s cut of the film, will arrive in Australia on April 13 and hits the US on April 14, 2017.
