Some major news for Fear the Walking Dead watchers.
Not only has AMC announced that the Walking Dead spinoff has been renewed for its eighth season, it turns out that a major fan-favourite character is set to return as well. Kim Dickens will be returning to the series, reprising her role as Madison Clark, who played a key role in seasons 1 through 4.
As for how, since, you know, season 4’s mid-season shocker, remember: If you never actually see a body… rules of film and television dictate they could easily have survived.
If season 8 is too long to wait for a catch-up with Clark, there’s more good news: Dickens will be making her first appearance back in the series in the second half of Fear the Walking Dead season 7, which kicks off on April 17th, 2022 (synopsis and trailer below). Dickens will then be back on board as a series regular in season 8.
“If there were a Mt. Deadmore, Kim Dickens’ face would be on it,” Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe, said in a statement. “Madison Clark is a foundational character to TWDU — heroic, complex, an everyperson who becomes a warrior and then a force of benevolence. Kim Dickens’ raw talent, strength, and brilliance will electrify TWDU once more and we couldn’t be luckier to have her back.”
Dickens took to social media as the news of her return broke. “Been holding this secret for a while now,” Dickens posted, along with a picture of her getting ready to appear on Walking Dead aftershow Talking Dead. “MADISON IS BACK.”

Coming up on the second half of season 7, as per AMC’s official synopsis:
… months have passed after the nuclear blast and the only one thriving is Victor Strand (Colman Domingo). Having built a fiefdom, he callously selects who will have a chance at life. The other members of the group have suffered immensely, but out of that, has come a fierce determination to live, even if it means taking Strand’s Tower by force and continuing the search for Padre, a mythical place no one is sure really exists. Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey,) now the reluctant leader to Teddy’s former followers, is plagued by a mysterious illness and the repercussions of her past actions. Morgan (Lennie James,) trying to maintain hope that he will be reunited with his family, knows Alicia is key to their survival. With Alicia declaring war, Strand’s paranoia and personal vendettas grow, and with that, new threats emerge from all sides.
