20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for Fantastic Four, giving us a look at Josh Trank’s (Chronicle) upcoming adaptation of the Marvel comic-book series.
The film sees four young scientists achieve superhuman abilities through a teleportation experiment gone terribly wrong. They must now use these abilities to save the world from an uprising tyrant.
The trailer provides snippets of our titular heroes prior to the experiment that changes their lives forever, and goes on to show glimpses of the chaos they endure during and after their transformation. We don’t get to see much of their powers in full force, but we do get a cool glimpse of Michael B. Jordan’s Johnny Storm as The Human Torch, and Jamie Bell’s Ben Grimm as The Thing.
Somewhat surprisingly, it’s all quite exciting. We’ve gone from wary and generally disinterested, to intrigued and even kind of hyped. Still, this is but a teaser. Let’s keep expectations in check until we get a better look.
Fantastic Four stars Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell.
Written by Trank, Simon Kinberg and Jeremy Slater, Fantastic Four hits U.S. cinemas on August 7.
