Hilarious ‘Free Guy’ Promo Introduces Ryan Reynolds as One Buff Dude

“Sure, I don’t fit into the Deadpool suit anymore, but life is about growth… hormones.”

Dude, it’s time to meet Dude (that’s his name), an ultra-buff version of Ryan Reynolds that is featured in the upcoming sci-fi action-comedy Free Guy. Dude is essentially a jacked-up video game character that Taika Waititi‘s evil game developer, Antoine, throws at our hero, Guy (Reynolds), after Guy realises he’s a non-player character in an open world game.

The fun marketing piece below serves as a hilarious, faux behind-the-scenes look at Reynolds’ experience playing the role of Guy. “I actually fathered our youngest daughter when I was this muscular,” says Dude, with Reynolds’ face amusingly placed on a peck-popping bodybuilder’s body. “The child was born full grown and wearing shoes, which was weird for Blake.”

After so, so many delays, Free Guy, also starring Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Joe Keery, hits Australian cinemas on August 12th and US cinemas on August 13th. Of course, as is the new normal, those dates depend solely on whether lockdown is affecting your city or not. 🙁

In “Free Guy,” a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game, decides to become the hero of his own story…one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way…before it is too late.
