While Léa Seydoux is yet to officially sign on that dotted line, it’s looking like the actress will be starring alongside Channing Tatum in his debut as card-wielding mutant Gambit, aka Remy LeBeau.

Deadline is reporting that Seydoux, known for her roles in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Blue is the Warmest Colour, and upcoming Bond film Spectre, has been offered the high-profile part of Bella Donna Boudreaux, aka Bella, which both Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation‘s Rebecca Ferguson and Mad Max: Fury Road‘s Abbey Lee were also in contention for. Ferguson reportedly dropped out to star alongside Emily Blunt in the thriller The Girl On The Train.

The character’s comic history sees Bella and Remy as friends since childhood. Since they came from rival Guilds (Remy from Thieves and Bella from Assassins), their respective fathers arranged a marriage in the hope that their Guilds would be reunited. Bella’s brother, Julien, challenged Remy in a fight to the death after the wedding. Remy won, and was exiled from New Orleans as a result. Bella eventually became head of the Assassins Guild.

There’s no word as to how the character will be introduced in the film and whether or not their history will be the same.

Gambit, directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), is currently scheduled for U.S. release on October 7, 2016.
