You get two Wills for the price of one here. The plot finds Smith playing elite assassin Henry Bogan, who is suddenly targeted and pursued by a mysterious young operative that seemingly can predict his every move. It’s his own clone, and as the trailers below show, it’s not going to be just a clear-cut battle between the two. Clive Owen, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Benedict Wong also star.
As Lee has done in films such as Life of Pi and Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, he’s infusing some cutting-edge technology here. The younger Smith is actually a completely digital creation driven by the real actor’s mo-cap performance, as you can see in the behind the scenes featurette we’ve included below. “This technology is going to change how movies are made and how movies are seen,” Smith says. Sure sounds exciting; let’s hope the script and overall story here works well, too.
Gemini Man will be hitting US cinemas October 4 and arrives in Australia on October 10.
