Apple Wins George Clooney & Brad Pitt Thriller, Beating Netflix, Universal, Warner Bros. and more

Warner Brothers

Apple Studios has come out on top in the bidding war for a George Clooney and Brad Pitt project.

As we reported on in late September, the still-untitled film is coming from Jon Watts, known for directing the three Tom Holland-starring Spider-Man movies (including the upcoming No Way Home). Watts is writing and directing the picture, a thriller that will follow two lone-wolf fixers assigned to the same job. No further plot details have been released.

Deadline broke the news of Apple Studios’ win, reporting that the competitors included giants such as Netflix, Sony, Lionsgate, Amazon, Annapurna, MGM, Universal, and Warner Bros.

This marks yet another big project for Apple. The company has been forking out big bucks for high-profile projects such as Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, which comes with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro; Antoine Fuqua’s slave drama Emancipation, starring Will Smith; a musical titled Spirited, which will have Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds and Octavia Spencer; and a Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke picture titled Raymond and Ray.

Clooney and Pitt, who are also on board as producers, could reportedly receive around $US20 million each for this one. The two previously shared the screen in the three Ocean’s Eleven movies, as well as Coen Bros picture Burn After Reading.
