George Clooney & Brad Pitt to Reunite in Thriller from ‘Spider-Man’ Director; Studios Enter Bidding War

Warner Brothers

A number of Hollywood’s biggest studios have reportedly entered a bidding war for a planned George Clooney and Brad Pitt film.

The project is coming from filmmaker Jon Watts, who has been at the helm of all three Tom Holland-led Spider-Man films (including upcoming chapter No Way Home). Watts will be directing, writing and producing the picture, which currently has Clooney and Pitt attached to both star and produce.

As for plot, all there is to go on at the moment as that Clooney and Pitt could be playing two lone wolf fixers who are assigned to the same job. A ‘Fixer’: a person who arranges things for other people, sometimes dishonestly.

THR broke the news and Deadline confirmed it, with reports that Universal, Netflix, Sony, Apple, Lionsgate, Amazon, Annapurna, MGM and Warner Bros. are now in a bidding war for the package. It’s also looking like one massive payday for the two stars if a hot deal is landed; Clooney and Pitt could reportedly receive around $US20 million each.

Buds in real life, Clooney and Pitt have shared the screen in Ocean’s 11, 12 and 13, as well as Coen Bros picture Burn After Reading. Those three Ocean’s movies earned over $US1.1 billion altogether at the box office.

Coming from much smaller films with horror film Clown and thriller Cop Car, Watts struck big when he was hired to direct Sony’s MCU-connected Spidey movies. Spider-Man: Homecoming earned over $US880 million worldwide and Spider-Man: Far from Home topped $US1.1 billion. Spider-Man: No Way Home will swing into cinemas in December.

Stay tuned.

Oh, and in case you don’t know just how much George loves Brad…
