Studiocanal has unveiled a new trailer for Gold, the upcoming true-story adventure-drama led by Matthew McConaughey.

The Oscar-winning actor plays Kenny Wells, a modern-day prospector who gets lucky when, in one last-ditch effort, he finds gold in the Indonesian jungle. Of course, with great riches come a whole wave of complications, and by the looks of it, life for Wells doesn’t get any easier after striking it rich.

It sure looks like one crazy true story, with McConaughey putting in what appears to be a strong, immersive performance. And that strong supporting cast certainly can’t hurt. We’ll see.

Directed by Stephen Gaghan, known for Syriana and for his Oscar-winning work writing Steven Soderbergh’s acclaimed drama Traffic.

Gold, also starring Edgar Ramírez, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rachael Taylor, Toby Kebbell, Corey Stall and Bruce Greenwood, will hit U.S. cinemas on December 25 and will arrive in Australia sometime in 2017.

Studiocanal rundown for Gold:

From director Stephen Gaghan (Academy Award® winning writer of TRAFFIC) comes an incredible true story of one man’s dream to find gold.

Kenny Wells (McConaughey) is a modern day prospector, hustler and dreamer, desperate for a lucky break. Left with few options, Wells teams up with an equally luckless geologist to execute a grandiose, last-ditch effort: to find gold deep in the uncharted jungle of Indonesia.

The film stars Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey (INTERSTELLAR, DALLAS BUYERS CLUB, THE WOLF OF WALL STREET) and Golden Globe nominees Edgar Ramirez (HANDS OF STONE, THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN) and Bryce Dallas Howard (JURASSIC WORLD, PETE’S DRAGON).

STUDIOCANAL will be releasing the movie in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, France and Germany, dates to be announced soon.
