The first trailer has dropped for Good People, a dramatic thriller starring James Franco and Kate Hudson. The two leads star as an American couple in London who discover that their neighbour has been murdered. When they find a bag of cash in his apartment, they assume no one will know it’s missing. Before long, they find themselves the target of the man who originally stole the money. This looks like a pretty generic sort of thriller, but the cast and behind the scenes team provides some confidence. Good People is directed by Henrik Ruben Genz, who directed the strange-but-great thriller Terribly Happily, and penned by Kelly Masterson, who wrote Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead and co-wrote Joon-ho Bong’s Snowpiercer. We’ll see…
Also starring Tom Wilkinson, Anna Friel and Omar Sy.
Official synopsis for Good People:
Young American couple Tom and Anna Reed (James Franco and Kate Hudson) fall into severe debt while renovating Anna’s family home in London. As the couple faces the loss of their dream to have a house and start a family, they discover that the tenant in the apartment below them has been murdered and he left behind a stash of cash—$400,000 worth. Though initially hesitant, Tom and Anna decide that the plan is simple: all they have to do is quietly take the money and use only what’s necessary to get them out of debt. But when they start spending the money and can’t seem to stop, they find themselves the target of a deadly adversary—the thief who stole it—and that’s when very bad things start happening to good people.
