Take a look at the big new trailer that’s been released for House of Gucci, the second 2021 film for director Ridley Scott following The Last Duel.
Lady Gaga plays Patrizia Reggiani, the Italian socialite who was convicted of hiring a hitman to take out her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci, the Italian businessman and one-time head of the Gucci fashion house.
There’s one hell of a cast, including Adam Driver as Maurizio; Jared Leto in heavy make-up as businessman and Gucci design chief Paolo Gucci; Jeremy Irons as Rodolfo Gucci, Maurizio’s father; Jack Huston as Domenico De Sole, former president and CEO of Gucci Group; Al Pacino as Gucci chairman Aldo Gucci; and Salma Hayek as Gucci’s clairvoyant friend, Giuseppina “Pina” Auriemma, who had a hand in the hit.
This is based on Sara Gay Forden’s 2001 book The House Of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, adapted by screenwriters Becky Johnston (The Prince of Tides, Seven Years in Tibet) and Roberto Bentivegna.
A potentially riveting drama here, with a solid ensemble that look to be tackling their characters with gusto. Fingers crossed. We’ll find out when House of Gucci opens in US cinemas on November 24th and Australian cinemas on December 26th.
