Take a look at the trailer for upcoming Netflix psychological thriller Hypnotic, with The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass star Kate Siegel.
Siegel stars as Jenn, a woman feeling stuck in her personal and professional life; a woman also reeling from traumatic events. Wanting to embark on a road to recovery, Jenn is convinced to get the help of a renowned hypnotherapist, Dr. Meade (Jason O’Mara, The Man in the High Castle). Well, bad idea. After a few intense sessions, she begins to experience terrifying events and mysterious blackouts – and soon realises she’s caught in a dangerous mind game. With the help of a detective (Dulé Hill, Suits), Jenn attempts to put the pieces together before it’s too late.
This one’s coming from directors Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote, who previously helmed the really-not-so-well-received 2018 Netflix horror film The Open House, starring Dylan Minnette. Hopefully they have something much better lined up with Hypnotic, which has a solid lead with Siegel and a concept that could allow for creative turns. The screenplay is by Richard D’Ovidio, whose credits include 2001 Steven Seagal and DMX actioner Exit Wounds, 2001 horror remake Thir13en Ghosts, and 2013 Halle Berry thriller The Call. Guess we’ll see.
Hypnotic, also starring Lucie Guest Jaime M. Callica, and Tanja Dixon-Warren, will be streaming on Netflix from October 27th.
