‘Injustice’ Trailer: DC’s New R-Rated Animated Film Has Superman on a Rampage

DC Entertainment / Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. Entertainment has dropped the trailer for Injustice, the upcoming DC animated film inspired by the popular video game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and the graphic novel based on that game, Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year One, written by Tom Taylor.

The film is set in an alternate world in which The Joker has Metropolis destroyed and dupes Superman into killing Lois Lane. The Man of Steel doesn’t exactly take it well. Supes takes control of the Earth by force, seeing it as being for humanity’s own good. Batman stands opposed to Superman’s plan, and gathers a team of freedom-fighting heroes to stop him. Of course, when titans clash, the question is, can the world survive the battle?

Expect WB’s new animated feature to be of the more brutal variety, given an R rating in the US for “Bloody Violence”. The film is directed by Matt Peteres, who co-directed the well received 2020 DC animated film Justice League Dark: Apokolips War.

Injustice, with a voice cast that includes Justin Hartley as Superman, Anson Mount as Batman, Kevin Pollack as Joker, and Gillian Jacobs as Harley Quinn, among others, will be released in the US on Blu-ray, Digital, and as a 4K Ultra HDTM Blu-ray Combo Pack on October 19th, 2021.
