Focus Features has released the official trailer for Insidious: Chapter 3, the third film in the horror franchise and the directorial debut of screenwriter and actor Leigh Whannell.
Insidious: Chapter 3 focuses on the events that took place before the first film, telling of how psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) attempted to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) targeted by a malevolent entity.
Dermot Mulroney leads the cast here, playing the girl’s father, and Whannell and Angus Sampson are back playing Specs and Tucker respectively.
Fans of the first two films will feel right at home, with what appears to be a similar setup and the usual horror tropes on display. Seriously, how many of those ‘what’s under the bed’ sequences do we need?
We’re interested to see how Whannell goes as first-time director. He penned the previous two Insidious films and burst onto the scene with fellow Saw-creator James Wan.
Insidious: Chapter 3 hits Australia on May 28 and the USA on June 5.
