First Into the Woods Trailer: Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Johnny Depp and More in a Disney Musical

Walt Disney Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for Into the Woods, their first theatrical adaptation of a Broadway musical play. Directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago, Nine, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Into the Woods “follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy)—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife (James Corden & Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch (Meryl Streep) who has put a curse on them.” The first trailer doesn’t provide too much footage, but the film’s tone is delivered well enough. The production certainly looks grand, but with Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent to compare with, we’re wondering if this palette is getting a little repetitive. We’ll see whether Marshall’s direction, along with the impressive cast, deliver the goods. Watch the Into the Woods trailer below.

Into the Woods stars Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp, James Corden, Chris Pine, Johnny Depp, MacKenzie Mauzy, Lilla Crawford, Daniel Huttlestone, Tracey Ullman, and Christine Baranski.
