The attempt to get this reboot off the ground has been going on for ages.
Luke Evans (Dracula Untold) came on board in 2013 and left earlier this year, possibly sick of waiting for everything to come together. Well, it looks like the project may actually be moving forward now, with Dread Central reporting that Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire) has officially been locked in the lead role.
In an interview at the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention, Crow creator James O’Barr said “Jack Huston has definitely been cast” and the film “will shoot in a couple of months.” He also revealed that the film would be more of a straight adaptation of his graphic novel, which would make it a purer interpretation than Alex Proyas’ fantastic and much-loved 1994 film.
Corin Hardy, who has directed a soon-to-be-released horror film titled The Hallow, will direct The Crow reboot. The screenplay comes from Cliff Dorfman, best known for his work writing the great sports drama Warrior.
Jack Huston is certainly gathering some high-profile parts. Apart from The Crow, he’ll be leading the Timur Bekmambetov-directed Ben-Hur remake.
