Lopez and Hammer have signed on to star together in Shotgun Wedding, a Lionsgate film to be directed by Pitch Perfect helmer Jason Moore and written by New Girl creator Liz Meriwether and Mark Hammer (Two Night Stand).
The plot will have Lopez and Hammer playing a couple who are getting cold feet while at their ultimate destination wedding, which has also brought together their loveable but highly opinionated families. What could be worse? Well, how about baddies taking the entire wedding party hostage?
“Jennifer and Armie’s irresistible magnetism, separately and together, make them the perfect pairing for this action comedy,” reads a statement by Erin Westerman, President of Production for Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group. “They are both incredibly funny actors that can also deliver on the action, but what sets this movie apart is the way their infectious chemistry commands the screen. You can’t take your eyes off them.”
Lopez will be among the producing team, as will Ryan Reynolds – who was previously attached to star and is still currently listed on the project IMDb’s page as a cast member, although nothing’s been confirmed on his end. Cameras on Shotgun Wedding are expected begin rolling in early 2021.
Up next for Lopez is another marital-related title, Marry Me, which will team her up with Owen Wilson. On the way for Hammer is Murder on the Orient Express sequel Death on the Nile.
