Joe Manganiello Cast as Deathstroke in Ben Affleck’s Batman Movie

It’s been confirmed: Joe Manganiello will be playing the villain Deathstroke in the DC cinematic universe.

Ben Affleck recently took to Twitter to unveil some behind-the-scenes footage of Deathstroke, thus sending DC fans into a frenzy of speculation. And now we have confirmation that Manganiello, known for his roles in HBO’s True Blood, the two Magic Mike films, and the 2014 Arnold Schwarzenegger thriller Sabotage, has been cast in the role.

The news came from DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns, who was talking to media about his new gig overseeing Warner Bros.’ DC movies. Johns didn’t elaborate on whether Manganiello’s Deathstroke will be in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which is currently in production over in London, or whether the villain will in fact be the main antagonist in the upcoming standalone Batman movie, as has been previously reported.

As of now, the speculation is that Deathstroke may make a small appearance in Justice League in anticipation of a much bigger role in The Batman, which Affleck will also be directing. We’ll see.

Manganiello recently had a small part playing himself in the Netflix film Pee-wee’s Big Holiday and will next be seen in the comedy Drunk Parents, starring Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek.

Justice League is scheduled for Australian release on November 16, 2017 and U.S. release on November 17, 2017.
