The trailer has arrived for Jolt, a Kate Beckinsale-starring action flick heading to Amazon Prime Video in July.
Beckinsale plays Lindy, a sardonically-funny woman holding a painful secret :a rare neurological disorder gives her experiences sporadic rage-filled, murderous impulses that can only be stopped when she shocks herself with a special electrode device. When the man she loves is murdered, she embarks on a path of vengeance, all the while chased by cops who are looking at her as the prime suspect.
Looks like a nutty little actioner that brings to mind elements of Jason Statham’s Crank. If the energy is cranked up right throughout and Beckinsale’s performance aligns with the craziness nicely, this could offer up some fun. There’s a surprisingly strong cast here too, including Stanley Tucci, Bobby Cannavale and Susan Sarandon.
The film is directed by Tanya Wexler, going a bit of a different route following her previous films: Buffaloed, Hysteria, Ball in the House and Finding North. The screenplay comes from Scott Wascha.
Jolt, also starring Laverne Cox, Jai Courtney, and David Bradley, will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video from July 23rd.
