Jordan Peele’s next film is coming together.
The comedian turned Oscar-winning filmmaker knocked it out of the park with his feature directorial debut, Get Out, which earned him an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. The racially-fueled film raked in a huge $US255 million worldwide from a budget of just $US4.5 million, leaving the door wide open for Peele when it came to picking his next project. Peele was offered a big studio picture with Warner Bros’ long-gestating Akira movie, but passed on the film in order to tackle another small-sized project.
Peele solidified his relationship with Get Out studio Universal last year by signing a two-year first-look overall production deal with the studio, and the first project under the deal is coming together.
The planned film, as Peele revealed in a poster he shared on Twitter, is titled Us. Peele will be directing from a screenplay he wrote.

According to Variety, Black Panther actress Lupita Nyong’o is currently in talks to star in the film, with The Handmaid’s Tale actress Elisabeth Moss also circling a lead role. Winston Duke, who co-starred alongside Nyong’o in Black Panther as M’Baku, is also in talks to join the cast.
This marks yet another big project lined up for Nyong’o. The 12 Years a Slave Oscar winner is also attached to John Woo’s remake of his own action classic The Killer and is poised to star alongside Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard and Penélope Cruz in a planned spy thriller titled 355.
Peele’s next film is expected to be another “social thriller,” although plot details are being kept under wraps.
Us has been lined up for US release on March 15, 2019. Stay tuned.
