‘Jupiter’s Legacy’: Netflix Drops Tease for Their Next Big Superhero Series

Your first taste of Netflix‘s next big superhero series has arrived.

Check out the ‘From Comic to Screen’ promo that’s been released for Jupiter’s Legacy, an upcoming series that marks the first of Netflix’s Millarword – the streamer’s screen adaptations of writer Mark Millar’s comic book and graphic novel creations. If you’re not well-verse but think Millar’s name sounds familiar, you may know him for his work on the comics source material for Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kick-Ass, Marvel Comics’ Civil War crossover, and Wanted, among many other titles.

Jupiter’s Legacy, an adaptation of the Image Comics comic of the same name written by Millar, drawn by Frank Quitely, and coloured & lettered by Peter Doherty, is set in a world in which the first generations of superheroes have been keeping mankind safe for almost a century. They must now pass the legacy onto their children – something much easier said than done. Tensions rise as the young superheroes, hungry to prove their worth, struggle to live up to their parents’ legendary public reputations — and exacting personal standards. Netflix calls Jupiter’s Legacy “an epic superhero drama that spans decades and navigates the complex dynamics of family, power, and loyalty.”

The series stars Josh Duhamel as Sheldon Sampson, aka The Utopian, leader of the superhero team The Union; Ben Daniels as Sheldon’s older brother, Walter Sampson; Leslie Bibb as Grace Sampson, Sheldon’s wife and one of the most powerful heroes on the planet; Elena Kampouris as Chloe Sampson, Grace and Sheldon’s daughter; Andrew Horton as Brandon Sampson, Grace and Sheldon’s son; Mike Wade as Fitz Small, one of the most valued members of The Union; and Matt Lanter as George Hutchene, Sheldon’s closest ally.

Take a look at the ‘First Look’ video, which doesn’t offer up any footage, but does provide a few images from the series with nods to the comic. Jupiter’s Legacy will be streaming on Netflix from May 7th.
