The first full-length trailer has arrived for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the sequel to the 2015 hit and the fifth film in the franchise Steven Spielberg kicked off in 1993.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprise their roles as Owen and Claire, who we found out didn’t exactly live happily ever after following the events of the last film. They’re brought back together when they learn that Isla Nubar – since abandoned, with dinosaurs left to fend for themselves – is about to be wiped out by the once-dormant volcano that’s come to life. It’s time to save dinos from extinction… again.

“What could go wrong?” Yeah, even Owen knows it’s a bit of silly plot. Still, the dino mayhem looks like a lot of fun, particularly in the volcano eruption sequence that’s heavily shown off. T-Rex looks to be getting a nice spotlight (of course), there’s more of Owen and his relationship with the increasingly unstable raptors, and Jeff freakin’ Goldblum is back (and yes, his “life finds a way” line has to be referenced).

Seeing as Jurassic World raked in $US1.6 billion in worldwide box office receipts and is currently the fourth-highest grossing film ever made, they could put these dinosaurs in any ol’ predicament and the audiences would still flock in. Expect more big numbers here.

The film is directed by J.A. Bayona, who delivered winners with The Orphanage, The Impossible and A Monster Calls.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, also starring James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, and BD Wong, will arrive in Australia on June 21 and hits the US on June 22, 2018.

Official synopsis for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom:

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.
