Comedian Kevin Hart is set to star opposite LeBron James in Ballers, a new comedy from Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment. Deadline has reported that the comedian is set to “star as a man who lives in the shadow of his NBA superstar brother (James), but gets a chance to prove himself when he and some pals attend a weekend fantasy basketball camp in Miami.”
It would be interesting to see how the film portrays a fantasy basketball, especially with an NBA player who is frequently on players’ fantasy basketball rankings.
Hart is to co-write the screenplay with his writing partners Joey Wells, Chris Spencer and Harry Ratchford. Brian Grazer and Michael Rosenberg are producing.
They’re obviously aiming for a Twins kind of thing here, with Kevin Hart’s 5’3″ height comparing to LeBron James’ height of 6’8.” Hart’s film career has done pretty well and we’re guessing this film is ticking off a few of the right boxes for a box-office hit, considering the giant fan base of each star.
A director will be attached to Ballers once Hart delivers the screenplay. Production is set to begin next summer (U.S. season), to compliment James’ busy schedule.
