Bautista and Norton have joined the cast of the still-untitled sequel to 2019 whodunit hit Knives Out, directed and written by Rian Johnson (Looper, The Last Jedi). Deadline broke the news on both castings, although no details on their characters have been shared. This marks a reunion for Bautista and Daniel Craig, who went head to head in Bond movie Spectre.
Netflix forked out the big bucks last month to acquire not one, but two sequels. The streaming giant paid upwards of $US400 million for the follow-ups, with Rian Johnson returning to direct, write and produce, and Daniel Craig staying on as star, reprising the role of enigmatic gentleman sleuth Benoit Blanc.
It’s still early and plot details remain under wraps. The only thing that’s really known is that Blanc will have another mystery to sink his teeth into – and there’s another big ensemble coming together to fill out the various characters. The first film’s cast included Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Plummer, Toni Collette, and Michael Shannon, among others.
Cameras on Knives Out 2 will begin rolling in Greece next month.
Also ahead for Bautista: Zack Snyder’s zombie pic Army of the Dead and Denis Villeneuve’s delayed sci-fi epic Dune. Norton will next be seen in Wes Anderson film The French Dispatch, set to have its premiere at Cannes this July.
