‘Knives Out’ Trailer: Daniel Craig, Chris Evans & More in Star-Studded Whodunnit

The trailer has arrived for upcoming mystery-thriller Knives Out, boasting a big-name cast that includes Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Michael Shannon, Jamie Lee Curtis and Toni Collette, among others.

From writer-director Rian Johnson, known for Brick, Looper and the highly divisive Star Wars entry that was The Last Jedi, Knives Out has Craig playing a debonair detective looking into the death of a renowned crime novelist (Christopher Plummer). He’s been found dead just after his birthday, so it’s time to start looking at his dysfunctional family, the estate staff, and all others who were at the party to solve the case.

This nod to Agatha Christie stories could be a good amount of fun. While the trailer below is a little messy with its editing and tonal jumps, it does look quite entertaining. Johnson’s name has been soured to many, many Star Wars fans that didn’t enjoy The Last Jedi, so let’s hope this helps put him back in some good books. And on the off chance that anyone was wondering, Brick and Looper are up there for this writer, and I wasn’t displeased with most of The Last Jedi.

Knives Out, also starring Ana De Armas, Don Johnson, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford and Jaeden Martell, will open in the US on November 27 and arrives in Australia on November 28.

Official synopsis for Knives Out:

Acclaimed writer and director Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper, The Last Jedi) pays tribute to mystery mastermind Agatha Christie in KNIVES OUT, a fun, modern-day murder mystery where everyone is a suspect. When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death.

With an all-star ensemble cast including Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford and Jaeden Martell, KNIVES OUT is a witty and stylish whodunit guaranteed to keep audiences guessing until the very end.
