New Look at ‘Loki’ Unveiled as Tom Hiddleston Announces Earlier Release Date for Disney+ Series

Marvel Studios

A couple of exciting goodies have dropped for Loki, the highly anticipated next Marvel Studios series heading to Disney+.

Not only has a new promo arrived for the series, a video has been released with star Tom Hiddleston announcing a new release date and subsequent air days. “Wednesdays are the new Fridays,” Hiddleston says in the announcement vid below. Indeed, Loki‘s premiere date has moved up from Friday, 11th June, to Wednesday 9th June, with episodes dropping weekly on Wednesdays thereafter. Both WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hard their eps released on Fridays.

Snippets of new footage are offered up in the new promo, which looks at the handful the God of Mischief proves to be for the staff at the Time Variance Authority (TVA) – who monitor the timeline and multiverse. The plot finds Loki under arrest by the TVA and forced to rectify the timeline break he caused after picking up the Tesseract and vanishing in Avengers: Endgame. “He’s doing great, but he’s really arrogant,” says Owen Wilson’s TVA member, Mobius M. Mobius. TVA judge Ravonna Lexus Renslayer, played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, has a harsher description of Loki: “insubordinate, stubborn, unpredictable.”

Loki was created by Michael Waldron, writer of Rick and Morty episode ‘The Old Man and the Seat’ and co-writer of upcoming Sam Raimi-directed sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. All six episodes are directed by Kate Herron, whose previous TV series credits include Netflix shows Sex Education and Daybreak.
