Long Movies For The Holidays

Exhibitor Relations has just announced that Django Unchained  will be 2hrs 45mins long. Tarantino’s script was 170 pages long so there’s no real surprise there. Fingers crossed Australia doesn’t get some cut down version. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey  runs 2hrs 46mins, Les Misérables  and Zero Dark Thirty  both run 2hrs 37mins and Skyfall  past the 2 hr mark by 23 mins. Looks like studios are becoming more and more confident that crowds are willing to stick it out if the movies are good enough. I guess we’ll be sitting in front screens longer than planned over the holidays – not that we have a problem with that!
