‘MacGruber’ Series Trailer: Will Forte’s Throat-Ripping Hero Returns to Take Down Billy Zane

Peacock

A big new trailer has dropped for MacGruber, the upcoming comedy series that brings back Will Forte as the MacGyver spoof he first delivered on Saturday Night Live.

The series finds MacGruber finally released from jail after spending over a decade behind bars. He’s tasked with bringing down baddie Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth, played by Billy Zane. It’s also personal for MacGruber, seeing as Queeth killed his mother. “My country has invited me to die for it and I RSVP’d ‘Yas, Queen.'”

Kristen Wiig and Ryan Phillippe are also on board, reprising their roles as Vicki St Elmo and Dixon Piper, respectively. The cast includes Sam Elliott, Laurence Fishburne, Joseph Lee Anderson, and Timothy V. Murphy, among others.

It’s been 11 years since the ill-received MacGruber movie, so we’ll see if the fan base is still keen to hang out with America’s ultimate hero. A cheeky, adult-aimed series may be the right way to go with the character.

MacGruber will premiere on Peacock in the U.S. on December 16th and Stan in Australia on December 17th.
